Ship Spotting in Moscow

As a break from my car spotting activities, here's some ship spotting in Moscow.

It was originally a river cruise on a Raketa: the North River Terminal -- the Bay of Happiness -- the North River Terminal.

On August 9, 2014. Weather: +28C, sunny.

Approaching the North River Terminal.

The North River Terminal in Moscow.

It appears to be under some heavy repairs...

... or maybe even beyond repair.

On the embankment.

Ticket for the cruise on a Raketa.

Quay No. 6.

A view across the water.

The ticket, reverse side.

Quay No. 7 - ours. The Raketa is going to dock here soon.

There she is!

She is coming in to dock.

Spot No. 1 is the Raketa 185 which is now docked, all aboard.

Raketa (Russian: Раке́та, Rocket) was the first type of hydrofoil boats commercially produced in the Soviet Union. They were manufactured from 1957 until the early 1970s.

And now Raketa 185 is one of only 7 Raketas remaining in operation in Russia (apparently) and one of only three in Moscow. It is 40+ years old, definitely. Still going strong.

Some other river cruise ship.

She is leaving before we do. I don't know what it is, it is a new river cruise boat.

My Okeah chronograph -- Ocean on the River so to speak.

The Ocean on the river.

Passenger deck... the stern seats are better though... anyway that's where everybody congregates.

We are leaving too.

Below is the Druzhny, a USSR and Russian Navy frigate, built in 1975, decommissioned in 2003.  Project 1135 Burevestnik aka Krivak.

She left before us... but nothing can outrun a Raketa.

Friendly fish on the loo door.

The Maxim Gorky, aka Stalin's Yacht.

Launched in 1934 by order of Joseph Stalin. Stalin and his closest circle often enjoyed river trips on it.

There is apparently a wax figure museum on board in Stalin's former cabin.

Back to our Raketa.

Careful!

Exciting.

Yachts galore.

Not gonna get us.

In the Bay of Happiness.

Leaving the Bay of Happiness on way back.

Rainbow in our wake.

The Ocean again.

I have this (below) down as the Volgo-Don 144 but I am not sure.

Overtaking the Kronstadt.

The Kronstadt is a luxury river cruise motorship built in Germany (GDR).

This is where the cam battery ran out and another ship left unidentified.
