The 2008 Daewoo Nexia II is the facelifted version of the car that started its life as the Daewoo LeMans (sold as Pontiac LeMans in the U.S.) which maybe was the first car that Daewoo was able to sell internationally -- all over the word in fact.
The Daewoo LeMans was made in Korea until about 1997 but crucially in 1996 its production began at Uzbekistan's Uz-Daewoo and continues to this day in this, second, generation as pictured.
Except maybe the name Nexia has now migrated to Uz-Daewoo's new brand the Ravon, the Daewoo Nexia was finally terminated relatively recently and replaced with the Daewoo Gentra (aka the face-lifted Chevrolet Lacetti).

Although it doesn't get much love elsewhere, it is an important and well-liked car here in Russia and very successful in terms of sales, especially in its first generation, a car without which any catalog of the car scene here would be incomplete.
Maybe not a car without its own faults but those are well known and it is also well known how to deal with them, in any case cheap to maintain and fix.
And here are some Daewoo Nexia II press-kit photos.
And some more photos from Uz-Daewoo's Russian website (in Russian).
A Clarion CD/mp3, radio unit, comes standard on all trims (except the base one).
A Daewoo Nexia II commercial.
And the cult commercial of the first-gen Daewoo Nexia (must understand Russian).
BTW, the Russian police car at the end in the above commercial is a Crown Vic (now all retired aka scrapped and not seen for some years).

Even Welly makes a Diecast model of this facelifted Nexia now. A long life well lived! The original Nexia/Heaven was popular here, but always Korean made.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, a very long life by today's standards of over 20 years (1994-2014). I thought it was still being made in Uzbekistan but it seems now production finally ended but it was very recently probably some time in 2014. The name lives on in the Ravon Nexia R3 (chevrolet aveo)
