GAZ-AA

From one of my other blogs, VreMax, where I reported on this car exhibition that I visited over a year ago - in August of 2014.

Here is a GAZ-AA truck.

It is an iconic truck and is a licensed version of the Ford Model AA truck

Ford licensed the manufacture of the Model AA to a variety of nations, notably the Soviet Union where they were made in greatest numbers during a long production run from 1932 to 1948 in various modifications.

The Ford Model AA remains popular to this day. Apparently there are still some working units around, such as this one in Uruguay seen here in a 2005 picture from from wikipedia.

Some period photos of the GAZ-AA.

Several military vehicles were based on the GAZ-AA, including this WW2 truck (below) with a mounted DShK machine gun (known as Doushka and still used in armed conflicts to these days as a truck mounted weapon).
