Oka VAZ-1111

Today's car is this Oka VAZ-1111 spotted last summer (2015).

So far on this blog we have already seen this Oka and now another one.

I am partial to this little car as my mother used to have one and I wanted to have one myself.

The Oka VAZ-1111 was  produced by AvtoVAZ (maker of Ladas) in 1998-1994 and by SeAZ and ZMA in 1988-2005.

This is a super compact car, a city car.

It was very popular, and its popularity is confirmed by fact that there are still plenty of them on the road 11 years after production ended.

Here are some former press photos of the Oka.

And these three photos below show Oka's last facelift as produced by SeAZ (Serpukhov Auto Plant) circa 2004-5.

By that time it had acquired a China-sourced engine (itself based on some Toyota motor).

And a test drive in Russian of the last restyled Oka model.

GAZ-AA

From one of my other blogs, VreMax, where I reported on this car exhibition that I visited over a year ago - in August of 2014.

Here is a GAZ-AA truck.

It is an iconic truck and is a licensed version of the Ford Model AA truck

Ford licensed the manufacture of the Model AA to a variety of nations, notably the Soviet Union where they were made in greatest numbers during a long production run from 1932 to 1948 in various modifications.

The Ford Model AA remains popular to this day. Apparently there are still some working units around, such as this one in Uruguay seen here in a 2005 picture from from wikipedia.

Some period photos of the GAZ-AA.

Several military vehicles were based on the GAZ-AA, including this WW2 truck (below) with a mounted DShK machine gun (known as Doushka and still used in armed conflicts to these days as a truck mounted weapon).

2003 Dodge Neon

A 2003 Dodge Neon spotted last autumn.

Appears to be a 2nd Gen 2003 Dodge Neon. Production ended in 2005.

And here is its performance cousin the Dodge Neon SRT4 in GT6 pictures. Note the same color (almost).

The Dodge SRT 4 is based on the 1994 Dodge Neon and is the most powerful performance version of the Neon released in 2003.

The SRT badge indicates that the car was worked on by Chrysler's high-performance car development division and is therefore a genuine high-performance vehicle.

FAW Carrier

China car and truck continues on this blog.

So far we have seen this Geely Emgrand EC7 and this 2005 Geely Otaka.

And here is a FAW Carrier small truck, I think, it is a current generation (2013?).

1:8 ZiS-110 Limousine by Deagostini

Deagostini apparently launches a new series here in Russia.

On January 5, 2016 the first installment hits the press kiosks --a 1:8 ZiS-110 assembly kit, with working parts and headlights.
