Museum 1956-85 Moskvitch Cars

This is from one of my other blogs, VreMax, where I reported on this car exhibition that I visited a year ago - in August of 2014

This entry is about the Moskvitch cars I saw there, and I continue verbatim from the other blog.

Cannibalising my own earlier post on a car exhibition -- basically raiding it for pictures of the Moskvitch to use in this post which will be in my Moskvitch Cars series.

In chronological order, top to bottom

Moskvitch 402 FR RWD

Moskvitch 402 with a Moskvitch 401-422 "Woodie" in front of it.

Moskvitch 402, two tone

Moskvitch 410, a FR AWD version of the Moskvitch 402

Moskvitch 411, a FR AWD Wagon version of the Moskvitch 402.

Moskvitch Third Generation 1965-86

Moskvitch 412

Moskvitch Izh 412 Rally car. I believe it was also known as Moskvitch Elite 1500

Moskvitch 2137 Wagon Rally car

This car is in the 2012 (?) Silk Way Rally livery, however it did not officially take part in the rally but just went along for the entire length of it out of competition.

This car is also notable as the last of Soviet cars to still feature taillight fins to accommodate gate opening, until the model was discontinued in 1985.

Intermission: Moskvitch Cars 1945-86

By way of an intermission, here's a re-post from my other blog featuring Moskvtich, also Moskvich, cars that I saw and photographed at a car exhibition in March 2015. So they were not exactly spotted but they were definitely seen.

I believe, almost an entire lineup of Moskvtich cars are here, minus one or two models, and some variations.

Continuing verbatim.

Another car show at Moscow VDNKh -- Cars of Our Back Yard -- USSR cars.

Not the first car-themed show I saw at the location -- in August last year we saw Car Industry of the USSR.

But that time I was lazy to make too many photos. This time however I made over 200!

So it's in parts.

Part 1 - the Moskvitch -- they were the most numerous.

Entrance to the Exhibition - Pavilion No. 2.

Tickets - RUB 250.

Exhibit No. 1 - 1954 Moskvitch 401-422, Woodie station wagon, typically used as a light commercial vehicle (LCV) at the time, to use present day's terminology.

A look at the motor.

Cargo compartment.

1954 Moskvitch 401

This car deserves to star in an own movie.

1957 Moskvitch 410, full wheel drive

Front wheel.

Like a real car, it drips, which further proves that these cars are real.

1963 Moskvitch 403 - export model

Different fascia, somewhat gentrified.

1964 Moskvitch 408, quad headlights, also coach lights (kind of) on C-pillar.

Quad lights!

In my opinion, this is the best front end the Moskvitch ever had.
