Lada VAZ-21061 in Traffic

Last winter (2015) I saw this craggy Lada VAZ-21061.

In city dirt camouflage, with curtains on the back window... God only knows what's going on inside... maybe even nothing unusual. But the brake lights are working.

This one is interesting because the badge here says Lada 1500s which tells a story to a Lada enthusiast like me.

It means it's not the Lada VAZ-2106 (aka Lada 1600) per se although outwardly it looks like one and it's not the Lada VAZ-2103 (aka Lada 1500) which looks different, especially in the rear lights department... but is in fact the Lada VAZ-21061 (Lada 1500s)!

And the Lada VAZ-21061 (Lada 1500s) is basically the Lada VAZ-2106 but with a motor from the Lada VAZ-2103. Amazing, isn't it? I found out all of this by researching the Lada 1500s on the Internet.

1970-87 Lada Cars

Another intermission by way of a car-related post from my other blog, VreMax.

Lada cars of the 1970-1987 period. Continuing verbatim.

Another car show at Moscow's VDNKh -- Cars of Our Back Yard -- USSR cars.

Not the first car-themed show I saw at the location -- in August last year we saw Car Industry of the USSR.

But that time I was lazy to make too many photos. This time however I made over 200!

So it is in parts.

Part 1 - the Moskvitch -- is here -- Part 1 Moskvitch Cars.

Part 2 -- ZAZ cars -- is here -- Part 2 Zaporozhets Cars.

Part 3 -- Moto -- is here -- Old Russian Motorcycles, Mopeds, etc

And now - Part 4 - Lada cars (not all of them).

1975 VAZ-2106 (Lada 1600), a Deluxe version and a development of the VAZ-2103 (see below)

1970 VAZ-2101, the first Lada model.

It is supposed to be the VAZ-2101 but certain things aren't right. I guess it is as close as they could come to a complete VAZ-2001.
