I think you are right, and this ugly logo is old. They use one with grey and blue squares in China (http://www.geely.com/welcome/index.html).
The Geely usage of logos has been confusing. They created at least 3 sub-brands in China (Englon, Gleagle, Emgrand), and each had its own logo. Cars with Gleagle and Emgrand badges came to Chile, branded Geely, making it even more complicated.
I think the company realized that and re-unified its brand image, but since Geely is almost dead in Chile, I'm not sure about how they are being exported.

yes, very confusing, the one in my post reminds of adidas. the geely emgrand EC7 yellow, red looks a bit like cadillac's.
